Despite the population decline in Western New York, the Town of Evans has experienced an increase in residential and commercial development over the past decade as a result of suburban migration to the Town from the Buffalo metropolitan communities; the conversion of lakefront seasonal residences to year-round residences; the attraction of the "rural type" features that the open space in Evans provides; and the affordability of the diverse housing stock. Our waterfront location has also made the Town a popular spot for tourism and recreation, especially during the summer months.
The Town's recent residential and commercial development has been centered in four areas:
The Town of Evans is located approximately 20 miles southwest of the Buffalo metropolitan area, and is considered a rural community with the benefit of 12 miles of waterfront. The Town is located in geographic proximity to the major trading centers of the Northeast and is a bi-national gateway for commerce due to our region's border location with Canada.
In addition to the Thruway (Exit 57A - Eden/Angola), east west access is facilitated by New York State Route 5 and US Route 20. We are less than an hour from the city of Buffalo.
